CONSTITUTION:A light emitting diode 14 and a photovoltaic element 16 are attached on a ceramic wiring substrate 8 at prescribed positions. The substrate 8 is located with pins for locating and fixed to the body 12 of a distance measuring unit with a screw 20 through an elastic part 18. Light emitted from the diode 14 is projected on an object on an optical axis X through a projecting lens 24 and enters the element 16 from a direction Y through a light receiving lens 26 and a transparent plane parallel adjusting plate 26 to measure the distance. Thus, the assembly is simplified, and the locating accuracy to the body 12 is enhanced.
