Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture crystalline zeolite having high catalytic power in the conversion reaction of methanol or the like into an aromatic hydrocarbon by heating a reactive mixture consisting of a starting material mixture contg. an Si source, an Al2O3 source, an alkali metallic source and water and of a hydrocarbon under prescribed conditions of temp. and time.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrocarbon such as n-hexane is added to a starting material mixture contg. an Si source such as silicic acid, an Al2O3 source such as Na3AlO3 and an alkali metallic source and water to prepare a reactive mixture. The amount of the added hydrocarbon is 1W100, especially 10W50 times the amount of Al2O3 by mole. The reactive mixture is heated at enough temp. for an enough time to form crystalline zeolite, that is, at 80W300°C for 0.5W14 days. After forming crystals, the mixture is cooled to room temp., filtered, and washed. The crystals are separated, recovered, and dried at ≥100°C to obtain the desired crystalline zeolite.
