Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain a well stable measuring result aganinst changes in an environmental temperature by adding a temperature compensation circuit to the high voltage power supply of a photomultiplier tube sensitive to changes in temperature. CONSTITUTION:A scintillator SL is connected optically to a photomultiplier tube PM and the light converted from the radiation incident upon the scintillator SL is taken out after it is converted into a photoelectric current by the photomultiplier tube PM and amplified. The electric signal taken out is counted by a counter circuit CR after amplified by preamplifier PA. The temperature compensation output of a temperature compensation circuit TC is supplied to a high voltage power supply circuit PS for making the power supply output to the photomultiplier tube PM change correspondingly to the change in the temperature.
