Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a simple and optical change for an observing state, by forming a linear aperture part to a diaphragm member, providing a polarizing plate into an optical path in a rotatable way to the diaphragm member and at the same time dividing an optical control member into a part conjugate with the linear aperture part of the diaphragm member and another part. CONSTITUTION:A diaphragm member 2 having a linear aperture part 2a is set on the focal plane at the incident light side of a condenser lens 1, and a rotary polarizing plate 10 is set rotatably at the position near the front of the member 2. The luminous flux supplied from the aperture part 2a which substantially functions as a light source is fed to a sample surface 3 through the lens 1. An image P' of a sample P is formed on an image surface 5 through an objective lens 4. In this case, the plate 10 is turned to the member 2 and an optical control member 6 to change the polarizing direction for the illuminating light. As a result, a change is caused in the mutual operation to the polarizing plate on the member 6. Thus the contrast of an image varies to easily get the different states of observation.
