Abstract
PURPOSE:To surely read a reproducing signal, by inverting or storing the moment of thin film at a prescribed period in which the magnetic moments are unidirectionally arranged and reproducing signals through the utilization of the polarized light characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A light from a laser light source 1 is irradiated on a thin film 8a on a disc 8 via a polarizer 2, condenser lens 3, a photo modulator 4, a polarizer 5, a half mirror 6, and a condenser lens 7, and heat is applied and a magnetic field is given via a coil 9, resulting that the magnetic moments can be arranged so that the S pole is upward and the N pole is downward. Next, according to pit information, the magnetic moment is inverted or stored with a prescribed period with similar operation to record the information. The reflection of spot on a thin film 8a of reading light weakened at the photo modulator 4 is split at a half mirror 10, the reflected light from the S and N poles respectively enters into photodetectors 13 and 14 via photodetectors 11 and 12, and the output is surely read as a reproducing signal via a differential amplifier 15 and a lock-in amplifier 16.
