PURPOSE:To transfer stacked paper layers, while they are inverted, by means of an inverting clamp, and as well to enable the upper plate of each pallet inserted between the paper layers to be removed, easily, by a conveyor provided on one of a pair of forks of the inverting clamp. CONSTITUTION:A movable lifter B is guided to approach a paper layer inverting device A for positioning a fork A1 in a pallet D. Next, a fork A2 is moved so that a paper layer E is clamped between the forks A1, A2 through the upper plate D1 of the pallet D, and then an inverting clamp 5 starts its inverting action. Then, after a movable lifter C has approached the paper layer inverting device A, the inverting clamp 5 is turned clockwise for making the fork A2 to come into contact with a pallet D set on a table 2 of the movable lifter C. At this stage, the fork A1 is lifted off so that the plate D1 is removed, and then the movable lifter C is moved apart, thereby the paper layer E is shifted onto the pallet D of the movable lifter C by operating a belt conveyor 6 on the fork A2 at a constant speed.
