Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the position of a transferred or jammed paper to be simply and surely verified, by combining light transmitting and receiving optical fibers so as to form an optically detecting means. CONSTITUTION:Light transmitting fibers 15 and light receiving fibers 16 are arranged in a plurality of positions in the carrier path of a copying machine so that they are opposed together through a copying paper. One ends of the light receiving optical fibers 16 are arranged on the control panel 19 of a copy machine so that a transfer position indicating part 20 is formed. The position of the transferred copying paper is indicated by light and darkness on the indicating part 20 since light entering into the light receiving optical fibers 16 is interrupted by the copying paper which is transferred. If the copying paper is jammed in any position on the carrier path due to some trouble, the one end of the light receiving optical fiber 16 corresponding to the position is held to be darkened on the indicating part 20 thereby the jammed position may be verified at a glance.
