Abstract
PURPOSE:To harden a mold quickly in the stage of molding the mold with molding sand using water-soluble glue or the like as a binder by putting the green mold placed on a bottom part having vent holes in a heating furnace and allowing high temp. air to pass through the same. CONSTITUTION:A bottom part 7 having vent holes 12 and a top part 15 having blow holes 15 are registered, and the molding sand 16 which is kneaded with a water-soluble binder such as water-soluble glue and is heated to 80-90 deg.C is blown through the holes 14 of the part 15 from a blow head 13 and is packed in the cavities constituted of the top and bottom parts, whereby it is molded. The part 15 is removed, and the green mold 20 of the molded mold is put in a heating furnace 17, thence the groove 10 communicating with the vent holes 12 of the part 7 is connected to a suction head 23. The high temp. air in the furnace 17 is sucked through the mold 20 and the holes 12 and the mold 20 is dried by said high temp. air. This operation is repeated twice-three times during the passage through the heating furnace, whereby the mold 20 is hardened quickly.
