Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve picture quality by correcting an aperture automatically according to the high frequency component of a video signal by controlling aperture correction by a controlling means according to the amount of a signal obtained by detecting the edge component of the video signal. CONSTITUTION:A video signal from a signal source 1 is matched with a delay circuit 3 through a characteristic impedance element 2, and a video signal delayed by the circuit 3 and the undelayed video signal are processed by a subtracter 4, whose output is supplied to a rectifying circuit 7 and an amplifier 8. Then, the edge component of a high frequency signal is detected by the subtracter 4 and the high frequency component of the video signal is detected by the rectifying circuit 7 in the form of a DC voltage, on the basis of which the gain of the amplifier 8 is varied. The output of the amplifier 8 is applied to an adder 6 to perform aperture correction automatically according to the amount of the high frequency component contained in the video signal, and thus is made to an image signal having the most suitable sharpness for the video signal, thereby improving the picture quality of the image signal.
