Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce thrust adjusting force by providing a gear cutting part on the outside circumference of a thrust bearing box, and rotating a pinion meshed with this thereby making the thrust bearing box movable. CONSTITUTION:Screw threads are cut on the outside circumference of a thrust bearing box 8 fixing a roll 6 in a thrust direction, and is meshed with the inner side of an eccentric sleeve 9. A ring 10 is fitted to the outside circumference of the box 8 and is made slidable. Then, a thrust adjusting pinion 11 and a pinion 12 for lock nut mounted to this ring 10 and are meshed with the gear cutting part of the box 8. To adjust the thrust, the lock nut 16 is loosened, and the pinion 11 is rotated to move the box 8, whereby the thrust of the roll 6 is adjusted.
