PURPOSE:To obtain a device where a high-speed photography is possible with a simple constitution, by providing a shutter element consisting of solid-state electrooptic materials. CONSTITUTION:The waveform of the picture signal is shown in figure (a), and the waveform of the operation of an optical shutter ST is shown in figure (b), and the waveform of the operation in the case where the optical shutter ST is operated plural times is shown in figure (c). As shown in figures (b) or (c), the optical shutter ST is driven to open and close once or plural times in a blanking time Tb of the picture signal (a). An object image is focused onto an image sensor IS by the light passing through the optical shutter ST, and this object image is read out in the next frame time Tf and is transmitted to a picture memory M and a monitor MT. Thus, the real-time analysis for high-speed phenomena is possible.
