Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:An interferon that is produced in human epitheliocytes, develops very strong activity in human epitheliocytes, being different in the reaction with antibodies from human lymphocyte interferon and human fibroblast interferon.
USE: A substance controlling viruses: it has high stability, especially shows high effect against viruses specifically in human epitheliocytes.
PREPARATION: Human epitheliocytes such as human amnion cells, human amniotic epitheliocytes or human renal epitheliocytes are brought into contact with an interferon inducer such as paramyxovirus or Newcastle diesease virus. Then, the resultant cells are cultured in a serum-added or not added medium (completely synthetic culture medium containing saccharides and aminoacids) at 37°C for 38W58hr. Further, the cultivation is conducted at 27±2°C and an interferon production accelerator such as a pituitary hormone is preferably added to prepare an interferon that shows very strong antiviral activity in human epitheliocytes.
