Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a low pressure casting device and to economize the consumption of energy by constructing a movable heat insulating furnace in such a way as to permit insertion of heating elements, and supplying the molten metal in said furnace to dies by the pressure of compressed air through a stoke. CONSTITUTION:In a low pressure casting device 1 used for light alloys, refractory furnace material 45 is lined on the inside surface of the iron pan 41 of a heat insulating furnace 3 for supplying molten metal, and a heat isulating material 33 is packed on the outer side between the same and an outside furnace shell 31. A cover 42, an equipment mounting cover 43 and a stoke 9 are mounted to the upper part of the furnace 3, and packings 44, 91 are interposed in the joining surfaces thereof so that the entire part of the pan 41 forms an airtight chamber. A molten metal replenishing port 5, a heating element insertion port (not shown), etc. are provided at places other than right under a die plate 11. The furnace 3 is carried to under the dies 2 by a moving device 10, and is fitted to the stoke 9, thence the molten metal in the pan 41 is forced upward through the stoke 9 into the dies 2 by the compressed air supplied through a pressure pipe mounting port 8, whereby the molten metal is cast.
