Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent air leakage effectively by providing a supporting frame for cover consisting of the rising part of an outside iron shell and a horizontal iron plate and sealing the joint part between said supporting frame and the cover by means of lapping and sealing material.
CONSTITUTION: A cover 3 is installed to the cover supporting frame constituted by the rising part 8 formed by extending upward the outside iron shell 6 of a tundish body 1 and the horizontal iron plate 9 on the upper end face of the lining refractory materials 7 of the tundish, whereby the top surface of the tundish is covered. The joint part between the back of said cover 3 and the horizontal iron plate 9 of the supporting member is sealed by a lapping system. Since a slight clearance is provided between the rising part 8 from the tundish shell 6 and the side face of the cover 3 for the purpose of putting in and out of the cover 3, a heat-resistance sealing material 10 is driven from upward into the clearance so that it is firmly inserted therein.
