CONSTITUTION:A long-sized sheet 1 such as a film is fed in directions A and B by a motor 4, a capstan roller 2, and a pinch roller 3, and wound around a spool 5. A roller 11 at the tip of a lever 10 is energized by a spring 12 to come into contact with the outermost side of the sheet 1. The lever 10 rotates on a shaft 7 in accordance with the wind diameter of the sheet and its extent is detected by a potentiometer 8. The spool is provided with a disk 16 with a light-transmissive slit, and a photointerrupter 17, and outputs a pulse at every certain rotational angle. The extent of sheet conveyance is calculated from the sheet wind diameter D, the number N of slits, and the number of generated pulses.
