Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a fuel cell, and reduce the manufacture cost of the cell by constituting a heat exchanger installed among unit cells from plate-like heat-exchanging bodies and heat-exchange-medium supplying pipes located on side surface of the unit cells. CONSTITUTION:The generated heat of a layer-built cell, after being transferred to heat-exchanging bodies 7 made of flat plates, is transmitted to a heat medium by use of side pipes 8 provided on sides of the bodies 7. Next, the heat medium is compulsorily circulated with a pump 10 before it reaches to an external heat exchanger 11, where heat is discharged from the heat medium. During the operational initiation of the cell, a heat generator is installed instead of the heat exchanger 11, and heat necessary for the cell is supplied in the reverse order to that mentioned above.
