Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the intensity distribution of an acoustic wave beam nearly rectangular and uniform in a beam vertical plane by dividing an electroacoustic element in two dimensions, and then driving mutually adjacent electroacoustic element pieces with a 180 deg. phase difference. CONSTITUTION:On an acoustooptic medium 6, a base electrode 7 is mounted, and on it, a piezoelectric diaphragm 8 of LiNbO3 is bonded under pressure with low melting point metal such as Sn, etc.; and a dielectric film is vapor-deposited with a mask, etc., and after an upper electrode 9 is vapor-deposited on the dielectric film, slots 10 and 10', and 11 and 11' are formed with a wire saw, etc. Here, the slots 10' and 11' split the upper and lower electrodes 9 and 7, and the slots 10 and 11 split the upper electrode 9 and the dielectric film 13 only, so applying a high frequency signal to a terminal RF allows split adjacent piezoelectric diapharagms to oscillator with a 180 deg. phase difference. Consequently, the intensity distribution of an acoustic wave beam becomes uniform and even when the light beam is stopped down, the intensity of distribution of diffracted light never deviates from that of a Gauss type, speeding response.
