Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent stamping on a sheet material smaller than a stamp by providing a means to measure the length of the sheet material and by prohibiting stamping operation when the measured length is smaller than a prescribed value in a device for stamping on the sheet material. CONSTITUTION:When a sheet material passes through a detecting part 10, a light to a light receiving part 5 is intercepted and thereby a collector of a transistor Q1 turns to be at an ''H'' level and monostable multivibrator circuir MMV1 delivers a pulse. A length detecting timer T1 is thereby turned ON and delivers a signal of ''H'' level. When the length of the sheet material is larger than the minimum length, a flip-flop FF is set by AND of a monostable multivibrator circuit MMV3 delivering a pulse (c) at the fall of the length detecting timer T1 and of the collector signal of the transistor Q1 and a stamp solenoid SL is driven through a delay timer T2. When the sheet is shorter than a prescribed length, the pulse of the circuit MMV3 and the collector signal of the transistor Q1 do not reach ''H'' simultaneously, and therefore, the flip-flop FF is not set and thus subsequent circuits do not operate.
