Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photoreceptor superior as a photoconductor and a charge transfer substance, by using a specified distyrylcarbazole derivative. CONSTITUTION:A compound contained as an effective constituent in a photosensitive layer is represented by the general formulaIin which R<1> is (a) a 1-8C aliphatic hydrocarbon, alicyclic, or aromatic residue, (b) a 2-4C halogenated alkyl hydrocarbon residue, or (c) a 2-4C hydrocarbon residue containing a hydroxy or ether group; R<2>, R<3> are same or different, and when (m), (n) are each a plural integer, they may be different from each other, and each is H or 1-4C alkyl, 1-2C alkoxy, or 1-7C dialkylamino; and (m), (n) are each a 1-5 integer. Said compound is, for example, prepared by introducing a substituent to a 3,6-distyrylcarbazole derivative.
