Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a positive intertransfer type guest host liquid crystal display element by providing segment electrodes composed of a divided matlike metallic film and a repeller on a rear substrate and applying a firm electric field to the repeller and a common electrode. CONSTITUTION:A cut part C and a lead electrode part D are provided to the lead part between A and B by using the low specific resistance of a metallic film and the lead electrode part D is made thin (about 30mum) so that flashing of the part can not be checked by the naked eye. A firm electric field is applied between a front transparent common electrode and a repeller 3 to form a white part for a background. Since the voltage is not applied only to segments to be used for display, positive colors can be displayed on the white background.
