Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the error of measurement caused by the stains on the measurement cell by passing the test sample and air or other liquids through alternately into the measurement cell. CONSTITUTION:Light projectior and receiver 2, 3 are set near the front end of a supporting tube 10 and an air pump 7 is provided at the other end it through the piping. One end of the supporting tube is immersed into the sample liquid. By operating intermittently the air pump 7, the test sample and air are led alternately to the detection part of a measurement cell 1 by the air pressure. Accordingly, the intensity of light passing through the measurement cell 1 depends upon the stains due to the test sample and the measurement cell, when the test sample is present, and upon that of the cell, when the air only is present. The element due to the stain of the measurement cell is eliminated from two kinds of intensity of light. Then, the density of the test sample can be calculated.
