Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the efficiency of operation of a multi-blade fan and to reduce the sound generated by the fan, by minimizing separation of air flow by shaping a blade to have an arcuate cross section, and reducing the thickness of the blade by forming the leading edge of the blade such that its inlet angle on the side of low-pressure surface is nearer to the tangential angle than that of the blade on the side on the side of high-pressure surface. CONSTITUTION:The body 5 of a blade is formed as a whole to have a substantially arcuate cross section, and its leading edge 12 is shaped in the form of a knife edge by reducing the thickness of the leading edge, that is, by bringing the inlet angle of the leading edge 12 on the side of its low-pressure surface 13 nearer to the tangential direction than that on the side of high-pressure surface 14 by cutting off the low-pressure surface 13, i.e., the back surface of the leading edge 12 in respect of rotation of the blade. By thus bringing the inlet angle of the leading edge 12 of the blade 3 near to the tangential angle, deviation between the inlet angle of the blade on the side of low-pressure surface 13 and the inlet angle of air can be reduced. Therefore, it is enabled to raise the efficiency of operation of a multi-blade fan and to lower the sound generated by the fan.
