Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent transmission loss and variation in characteristics of a transmission band, etc., due to the microbending of an optical fiber, by interposing an intermediate layer of high-hardness resin between the internal layer of resin having a high refractive index and the external layer of cushiony resin. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 1 is provided with a primary coat 3 of double- layered structure consisting of an internal layer 31 of resin having a high refractive index and an external layer 33 of cushiony resin, and an intermediate layer 33 of resin having high hardness is interposed between the internal layer 31 and external layer 33 of the primary coat 3. For example, the optical fiber 1 compoed of a core and a clad is provided with the about 10mum thickness internal layer 21 made of silicone resin which has a higher refractive index than the clad material and has the property of peeling, and inside of it, the external layer 33 made of cushiony silicone resin is formed while an intermediate layer 82 having about 10-80mum thickness made of epoxy acrylate, etc., is interposed.
