Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a sintered cutting tool, etc., having a high accuracy in particular at low cost by a method in which two kinds of well-grained powders are filled in molds through a partition plate, the partition plate is removed, a vibration is applied to the powders in the molds so as to form a mixed phase between both the powders at the place where the partition plate was present, and then the powders are sintered and subjected to hot machining.
CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of a bar or plate product, powders A (e.g., high-speed steel powder) and B (e.g., alloy tool steel) are filled in both cavities divided by a partition plate of molds. Then, the partition plate is removed and a vibration is applied to the powders in the molds so as to form a mixed phase 6 between both the powders A and B at the place where the partition plate was present. Then, the powders with the mixed phase 6 is sintered in such a way as to obtain a density of 95% or more under conditions of vacuum and 1,180W1,300°C (the hardening temperature range of high-speed steel used) preferably. And, the sintered body is subjected to a hot machining to make the density of cutting blade or other parts higher in order to obtain a cutting tool having sufficiently high strength.
