Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of capacity for display of gradation for an image forming device that performs a reproduction of multigradation, by compensating the linearity between the concentration of an original image and that of an image to be reproduced. CONSTITUTION:The image information given from a photoelectric transducer 11 is equidistantly divided into 4 bits and 16 gradations by an A/D converter 17 and with a prescribed threshold value and then delivered in the form of the digital video signals of 4 bits which show the level according to the concentration of an original image. A memory 16 supplies the data delivered from a dither matrix 14 as an address and then delivers the value suited to the linear compensation after setting it optionally at 8 gradations among 16 gradations. A comparator 18 compares the level of the video signal of 4 bits and 16 gradations given from the converter 17 with the signal having the threshold value of 8 levels supplied from the memory 16. Then an image is formed by a printer 15 based on the compared binary signal.
