Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an economical, compact and easy-to-manufacture optical detector by a method wherein a fluorescent stuff coated on a movable piece is excited by the light from a light emitting/detecting element via an optical fiber scope and the leght emitting/detecting element detects whether the fluorescence exists or not. CONSTITUTION:The voltage from a time sharing signal generator 49 is applied to an LED 41a of a light emitting/detecting element 41 (21) and the emitted light excites a fluorescent stuff coated on a movable piece 24 attached to a snap- action bimetal 23 via an optical fiber 22. The fluorescence is detocted by a phot- diode 41b of the light emitting/detecting element 41 (21) via the optical fiber 22. The output of the photo-diode 41b is put into a comparator 47 and compared with the standard voltage determined by resistors 45 and 46 and read into a latching circuit 48 being synchronized with the signal T2 from the time sharing signal gererator 49 and only the signal which corresponds to the fluorescence is put out. Components or devices such as a plurality of optical fibers or optical dividers or couplers are not necessary, so that the equipment can be economical and compact and can be manufactured easily.
