Abstract

PURPOSE:To adequately control an engine and improve its operational performance, by controlling ignition timing of the engine equipped with a supercharger on the basis of information showing an operating condition of the engine such as pressure or the like in an intake manifold. CONSTITUTION:A pressure sensor 2, arranged in an intake manifold 1, detects pressure in said intake manifold 1 as information showing the operating condition of an engine. Then a signal, showing the detected pressure, is compared with plural reference signals, preset to a reference signal generator unit 4, by a comparator 3, on the basis of its result, one kind of the plural ignition timing advance patterns, output from a pattern signal generator unit 5, is selected. In this way, in accordance with the selected pattern, an ignition device 7 is operated to fire a spark plug P and operate the engine 1 by the ignition timing advance pattern most suitable for its operating condition.
