Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the entire part of a titled device smaller in size and simpler by disposing a nozzle in such a way that molten metal is ejected therethrough in a horizontal direction, and providing an air vent for releasing the air in the inside of the system at the starting of production to the part of a connecting pipe connecting to the nozzle to a vessel for contg. the molten metal in proximity to the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal is ejected and supplied continuouly through a nozzle slit 7 onto a coolng roll 8 which moves at a high speed, whereby it is quickly cooled and solidified, and an amorphous metallic strip is produced. The nozzle 6 is so disposed as to face the horizontal side of the surface of the roll 8, and the direction of the flow of the molten metal to be ejected therethrough is set in an approximately horizontal direction. Further, an air vent 10 for releasing air in the system at the start of production to an air reservoir tank upward or to the outside is provided at the closing part to the nozzle 6 of a connecting pipe 4 connecting the nozzle 6 with a vessel 1 containing molten metal. Hence, the foaming the molten metal in the air accumulating part is prevented and the shape of the strip is made uniform.
