Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve electrolyte leakage resistance and shelf life by increasing airtightness and liquid-tighteness at the fitting portion of a cathode carbon rod with a synthetic resin sealing part. CONSTITUTION:In the stage that central hole 11 of a sealing part 10 is fitted in the projecting end of a carbon rod 3 inserted within a zinc can 1, a liquid sealant 15 having stickiness in a normal condition is poured from a nozzle 14 on the cylindrical vessel-like concave which is temporarily formed by the hole 11 and the carbon rod 3. The sealant 15 is filled uniformly on the top surface of the carbon rod 3 by its fluidity and also filled in an annular groove 12. When the sealing part 10 is inserted by pressure in the carbon rod 3, the overflowed sealant 15 is filled in the second annular groove formed by the circumference of the carbon rod 3 and a concave 13, and the gap between the carbon rod 3 and the sealing part 10 is sealed.
