Abstract

PURPOSE:To select desired information rapidly by performing reproduction while forwarding a recording tape fast in response to a message selection command signal, and performing switching to a normal speed on detecting the ending of one of succeeding pieces of information. CONSTITUTION:A key 1 for message selection is turned on by being pressed to send a fast-forward command for a tape 6 to a control circuit 2, and a driver 3 forwards the tape 6 fast. A signal reproduced by a reproducing head 5 is amplified by an amplifier 4, whose output is supplied to the control circuit 2. The control circuit 2 monitors the signal from the amplifier 4 to detect the ending of one message by the absence of the signal for a certain time, and runs the tape in normal reproduction mode. An operator listens to the message, and continues the reproduction as it is when the message is desired one or turns on the key 1 again to set the fast-forward mode when not. Thus, the operation is repeated until the desired message is reproduced, selecting the desired message easily.
