Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of incineration and treatment of the sludge generated during paper making by a method wherein the sludge is supplied at the lower part of a drier internally equipped with a splashing-up device and the sludge is dried by high temperature exhaust gas introduced from a boiler at the upper part of the drier. CONSTITUTION:The suldge generated during paper making is charged by being fed with a worm conveyor 2 from the lower part of the horizontal drier 3 equipped with the comb type splashing-up device F, which is driven by a driving gear E, and as well as the high temperature exhaust gas, from which ashes are removed, is led from an existing boiler 5 through a cyclone 6 and a feed pipe 6' into the gas inlet A of the drier 3. The sludge is dried and turned to be light during the repeated scattering and falling caused by the device F and sent toward an outlet D to be stored in an outlet port G. The dried sludge stored in the outlet port G is sent to a sludge incineration boiler 7 or to the existing boiler 5 as auxiliary fuel.
