Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a coating layer which is excellent in damage resistance, by spraying a granular refractory onto the surface of the lining refractory of a molten steel vessel, and spraying a thin layer consisting of other granular refractory whose aggregate is small in its maximum particle diameter, on said refractory. CONSTITUTION:To a molten steel vessel to which prescribed lining has been performed, for instance, like a tandish, at first, a granular refractory whose thickness is about >=5mm., more preferably 10-40mm. or so is sprayed as the first layer. The refractory consists of an aggregate, for instance, of magnesia clinker, alumina, etc., and on this refractory, spraying is performed from the outside by use of a binding material, for instance, about 1-10wt% phosphoric acid, etc., and a small quantity of a dispersion medium, for instance, consisting of an auxiliary agnet such as clay, etc. and having about 3mm. maximum particle diameter. Subsequently, on the sprayed layer of the first layer, a thin layer consisting of a granular refractory is formed by spraying, as the second layer. As for the aggregate of the second layer, that which has smaller particle size than that of the first layer is used, and its maximum particle size is about <=1.5mm., more preferably about <=1mm..
