Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the accurate detection of the quantity of emitted iodine possible with simple constitution by connecting a tank contg. a caustic soda soln. and a main steam blow-out piping with a sampling piping provided with a stop valve, and connecting a heating gas feed pipe on the down stream side of the stop valve. CONSTITUTION:Part of steam is conducted to the inside of a caustic soda soln. 16 of a dissolving tank 12 by opening the stop valve 11 of a sampling piping 10 connected to the main steam blow-out piping 6 of a steam generator of a pressurized water reactor, whereby the iodine in the steam is captured. The stop valve 11 is closed and heating air is fed by running an air feed fan 15 and an air feed main valve 14 to blow the residual steam in the piping 10 into the tank 12. Part of the soln. 16 is drawn through a sampling valve 18 and the quantity of iodine is measured. Thereby, the quantity of the emitted iodine is detected accurately with the simple constitution.
