Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an image detector of high sensitivity and good reliablility and resolving power by coating a phosphor which absorbs 1.5mu band IR light and converts the same to the near IR light coinciding with the wavelength sensitivity visible light or Si on the surface of the photodetecting part of the image detector consisting of Si. CONSTITUTION:A phosphor contg. >=5atom% trivalent Er ions in a fluoride of lanthanum group consisting basically of YF3, BaY2F8 such as compsn. of Y0.8Er0.2F3 is coated on the surface of the photodetecting part of an image detector such as a two-demensional electric charge coupling element (COD) 1 or the like consisting of Si, by using water glass as a binder, whereby a phosphor layer 2 is formed. Further, a dichromatic filter 4 which allows the transimission of 1.5mu band and reflects light of 1.0mu band is provided on the layer 2 to improve the effeciency of converting incident IR 3 to short wavelength light. In this way, the IR detector of high sensitivity and high resolution is obtd. If a filter 5 which allows the transmission of 1.5mu band and cuts off short wavelength light shorter than 1.1mu is further provided on the layer 4, selective sensitivity to only the 1.5mu band IR light is provided.
