Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain a multinozzle head with a uniform characteristic by a device wherein a wall is formed at its surface with undulations to make a gap between a plate-like member and the wall narrow in the vicinity of air jetting ports and wider in other parts. CONSTITUTION:A groove 21 is formed at the intermediate part between each adjacent ink jetting ports 9 in a wall 20. An air flow enters from an air chamber 12 into the grooves 21 and also flows toward air jetting ports 14 from the grooves 21. In this way, it is possible not only to generate an air flow with less viscosity resistance even when an air layer 13 has a small thickness, but also to make flowing directions of air uniform from the periphery of each air jetting port 14. The state of air flow from each air jetting port 14 is determined based on the states of air flow in the air chamber 12 andf the grooves 21, and it is possible to continue the normal operation even if ink or foreign matters exist in the air layer 13 other than the grooves 21. Further, such a phenomenon that ink is secured in the air layer can be overcome by jetting the ink through the air jetting ports 14. Thus, air pres sure in the vicinity of each ink jetting port 9 can be uniformalized so as to attain a multinozzle head with a uniform characteristic.
