Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the trimming loss of a film edge by bringing a thermoplastic resin melt extrude from a T-die in contact with a cooling roll provided with collars having a specific width and height at places wherewith both ends of the film come in contact. CONSTITUTION:Thermoplastic resin melted in an extruder 1 is extruded as a film from a slit of the T-die 2. The resin is supplied to a cooling roll 3 provided with collars having a width and a thickness of 0.5-50 times as large as the average thickness of the film at the positions wherewith both edges of the film come in contact, brought into contact with the metallic surface as the edge 4' of one side of the film 4 is put on the respective collar 6 and the other side is cooled and hardened in contact with the air and then the film is released by a release roll 5. Hereby, the thickness of the edge which is enlarged by the neck- in phenomenon in an air gap is alleviated and the film can be prepared in high yields.
