Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the energy of flowing water by installing a covering body (a baggy body) made of a flexible film, which can be expanded and shrunk and can off water, at the lower stream side of a dam, a weir, etc. CONSTITUTION:A water settling basin 11 is formed to the downstream of the fixed weir 7 by expanding and erecting the flexible covering body 10 for reducing the energy of flowing water on a riverbed 4. The setling basin 11 reduces the energy of flowing water by discharging from the weir 7 and falling of overflowing water when water flows. Even when sand eposits at the upperstream side of the covering body 10, the sand is discharged by shrinking the covering body 10, and the cross-sectional area of a river is not influenced. This method can apply even to the stream just under a movable weir, an iron gate and a steep slope besides the fixed weir 7.
