Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce ridging and enhance surface properties by a method wherein a specified amount of Al is incorporated into a slab, the slab is heated at a temperature in a specified temperature range, the hot rolled plate thus obtained is coiled at a specified temperature or above, and is annealed at a specified temperature for a short period of time. CONSTITUTION:A ferritic stainless steel slab containing 0.01-0.1wt% of Al is heated to a temperature of 1,000-1,200 deg.C, and after hot rolling the hot rolled plate is coiled at a temperature of not lower than 700 deg.C. In this case, the coiling temperature and the temperature retaining time are controlled according to the Al content, with a higher temperature and longer time for a lower Al content. Then, the coil is annealed at a temperature of 850-1,100 deg.C for a short period of time of up to 10min and is cold rolled to the final thickness.
