Abstract
PURPOSE:To enlarge the time constant of a toroidal system, and to improve stability and economical efficiency by forming a continuous conducting coil in a closed circuit shape and arranging it between superconducting coils. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting coil system 1 is formed by alternately disposing the superconducting coils 2 and the continuous conducting coils 3 in a toroidal shape. The continuous conducting coils 3 are formed in the closed circuit shapes, but external resistors besides coil resistors 8 may be added to them. Protective resistors 9 are connected among the terminals of the superconducting coils 2, and exciting power supplies 4 are connected through switch sections 10. The switch sections 10 are at on when abnormality detectors 11 detecting the abnormality of the superconducting coils 2 works. Sudden variation and a secondary harmful phenomenon with the variation can be inhibited even when the abnormality of continuous conducting transfer, etc. is generated in the arbitrary superconducting coil in the system by enlarging the time constant of the whole toroidal system.
