Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility and the running property and to suppress dropping-out of powder, by allowing a magnetic coating material, where iron oxide magnetic powder containing Co is used, to contain a higher fatty acid and a polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene block copolymer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material consisting of 0.1-5pts.wt. 10-18C higher saturated fatty acid such as lauric acid or stearic acid and 0.1-5pts.wt. polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene block copolymer is added to 100pts.wt. iron oxide magnetic powder consisting of gamma-Fe2O3, Fe3O4, or an intermediate compound between these compounds contg. The product is coated on a base material to obtain a magnetic recording medium.
