Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the main body of a wristwatch thin and small and to prolong the lfetime of a cell, by forming a thermopile element of a number of combined thermocouples, by fitting the element to the strap of the watch and by generating a power by utilizing the difference in temperature caused thereby. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of metals p and n which form a thermocouple and are connected in series electrically are fixed on insulation layers 103 applied on the opposite surfaces of two opposite metal plates 101 and 102 for heat conduction, whereby a radiation thermopile 100 is formed. At both ends 104 and 105 thereof, terminals 106 and 107 leading a generated power are provided through the intermediary of insulators 108. A heat Qh is given to the metal plate 102 and, when heat radiation Qc is obtained from the plate 101, the difference in temperature is caused between them. The difference acts on the thermopile 100 to generate a voltage, which is taken out from the terminals 106 and 107. This thermopile is contained in a part of the strap of a wristwatch and connected to an electric load of the main body of the watch, whereby the main body of the watch can be made thin and small in size.
