Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the responsiveness of an induction motor by independently providing a cup-shaped rotor for a yoke and a drive unit including a supporting plate for supporting the rotor, thereby reducing the rotating energy for the torque of the rotor. CONSTITUTION:An induction motor has a stator 14 secured to the outer peripheral side in a frame 10, a yoke 16 secured to the inner peripheral side in the frame 10 faced at a slight air gap from the stator 14 and a cup-shaped rotor 30 secured to an output shaft 26 in the state rotatably inserted into the air gap. When the stator coil 12 is excited, a revolving magnetic field is introduced into the air gap in cooperation with the stator 14 and the yoke 16, and an eddy current is produced in the rotor 30 inserted into the air gap. When the eddy current crosses the magnetic field, drive torque is produced at the rotor 30, and mechanical power can be produced by the shaft 26.
