Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain easily the distance up to a fault point, by transmitting voltage values and current values at both ends of a transmission line. CONSTITUTION:When the voltage at a power transmission terminal, the current at said transmission terminal, the voltage at a reception terminal, the current at said reception terminal, the voltage at an accident point, and the resistance value of the transmission line between two transduction places are denoted as Vs, Is, Vr, Ir, Vx, and R1 respectively, a resistance value R1 from the transmission terminal to the accident point is equal to (Vs-Vr-Ir.R)/(Is-Ir). The voltage Vs and the current Is are transmitted through a transmission device 8, and Vs-Vr-Ir.R and Is-Ir are obtained by adders 10 and 11 at the reception terminal and are inputted to a dividing circuit 13 to obtain the resistance value from the sending transmission terminal end to the accident point. However, since Is=Ir is true when the transmission line is indefectible, it is necessary to provide a switch 12 which is closed when an accident is detected in the input part of the divider.
