Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a metallized member having a light-diffusing surface with good productivity, by coating a base with a resin mixed with a substance capable of esily producing a gas, producing a gas to make the surface porous and then vapor-depositing a metal on the porous surface. CONSTITUTION:The entire surface of a supporting base 4 consisting of polyethylene terephthalate film or the like is coated with a resin 2 mixed with an acid, alkali or salt which, upon application of vacuum or heat, is easily converted into a gas or easily produces a gas (e.g., precipitated ammonium carbonate). The coated base is heated by means of a heater 8 to produce a gas to form a number of superficial pores on the resin film 9. Then, the resulting supporting base 14 is placed within a vacuum deposition apparatus 11. A metal such as Al or Ni, contained in a crucible 12 is vapor-deposited on the surface having pores to form a metallized film 20. In this way, a metallized member having a light-diffusing surface is obtained with good productivity.
