Abstract

PURPOSE: To utilize carotenoid contained in laver effectively and to prevent waste water pollution, by dehydrating subsidiary substances of laver in waste water of a laver sheet making plant, followed by dying them.
CONSTITUTION: The waste water 1 of laver sheet making plant is pumped up to the waste water feed hopper 4, and the waste water 1 is fed to the sloped filtering net 5 which is communicated with the bottom outlet 4' of the hopper 4. The lower part of the filtering net 5 is connected to the sloped net 5' for collecting the material (laver) 7 on the sieve, and the basket 8 for collecting the material (laver) 7 is set at its tip. The laver 7 thus obtained is subjected to the centrifugal dehydrator 10, dried by the hot air-dryer 11 to make a water content of 8W12wt%, and powdered into a particle size of 100W200μ, to give a product.
