Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain welding strength higher than that of two slender metallic members per se by stud welding said members at the welding contact faces of male and female shapes having areas larger than the cross sectional areas of these members. CONSTITUTION:The 1st metallic member (bolt 10) having a welding face 22 wider than the cross sectional area of the member and the 2nd metallic member (cut off bolt 14) having a welding face 17 assuming a male and female relation with the face 22 are made. A projecting welding tip 20 is put on the leading end of the face 17, the faces 22, 17 are butted and electric current of high density is flowed to cause are electric discharging between the two members, whereby these are stud welded. In this way, the weld zone stronger than the strength of the cross sectional faces of the bolts 10, 14 per se is obtained.
