Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the manufacture of a linear step motor and to enable the highly accurate detection of a position by forming by etching or electrospark machining the scale teeth of a stator and simultaneously position detecting grooves. CONSTITUTION:A stator 1 having a plurality of scale teeth 2 longitudinally disposed at an equal interval and a plurality of position detecting grooves 3 similarly longitudinally disposed at an equal interval is formed of ferromagnetic material. A base seat 9 is formed in a frame 8 formed of synthetic resin for slidably holding a movable element 7 at the stator 1, and a light emitting element 10 and a photodetector 11 are buried as position detecting means at the seat 9 to be faced with the grooves 3 of the stator 1. The teeth 2 are formed by etching or electrospark machining together with a plurality of grooves 4 and the grooves 3. In this manner, the position detecting grooves can be accurately disposed at desired position with respect to the formed grooves of the scale teeth.
