Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely introduce a rolled material to an upper pass roll without giving any damage, by employing a trough, an elevating arm and a guide roll for sideways turning and transferring a rolled material to the upper pass roll, at introducing a rolled material from a lower pass roll to an upper pass roll.

CONSTITUTION: In case of rolling a rolled material 5 by an upper pass roll after rolling by a lower pass roll, the rolled material 5 is exactly in a short time introduced to the inlet of the upper pass roll. For this purpose, the rolled material 5 running out of the lower pass roll reduces its speed while sliding a prescribed distance, and stops on a trough 6; then, an arm 16 goes up in order to lift the rolled material 5 to a dropping position; from this position the rolled material 5 runs off of a guide 25 and obliquely slides down. Hereupon, the rolled material 5 is sideways turned and is held by a concave groove provided in the outer surface of a roller 7. Since the roller 7 is always rotating toward the upper pass roll, the rolled material 5 is automatically bitten by the upper pass roll after passing through a guide 39.
