Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent energy loss of exhaust and improve the starting characteristic of an engine, by providing a heating device, for heating exhaust, in an exhaust pipe communicating the internal combustion engine to a supercharging turbine. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust turbosupercharger 11 is provided in an internal combustion engine. A coil 14 is wound in the periphery of an exhaust pipe 4 and coated by a heat insulating material 17. Air is sucked by a blower 7 and fed to a cylinder 1. Exhaust passes through the exhaust pipe 4 and is fed to a turbine 6. When the engine is started, a wall of the pipe is warmed by induction heating of the coil 14. In consequence, heat radiation of the exhaust from the exhaust pipe 4 can be inhibited to prevent energy loss of the exhaust and decrease of turbine speed, then a large amount of air can be fed to the cylinder 1 by the blower 7. In this way, a fuel amount of combustion can be increased, and output can be increased to improve a starting characteristic of the engine.
