Abstract
PURPOSE:To carry out uniform heating and to improve heat efficiency, by making the burning time of a main burner longer than that of auxiliary burners and also making the fuel flow amount of the main burner larger than that of the auxiliary burners and by burning those burners alternately twice or more times. CONSTITUTION:A soaking pit is charged with slabs 3 and then the main burner 2 is burned for tm hours before auxiliary burners 5 are burned for ts hours. Concerning the burning time, tm>ts, and the combustion in this way is repeated twice or more times. In one cycle of the alternate combustion, the ratio of the fuel flow amount of the main burner to that of the auxiliary burners is set at 1:0.2-0.8. By this combustion, the slabs are uniformly heated and the heat efficiency is improved.
